Quick Update

I don't really feel like sitting down and doing a long post right now, but I can't neglect this forever!  So yes, Ramadan is done, and it's nice to have things back to a normal schedule... eating in public, exercising, going to cafes when I'm down in Taza.  The weather is starting to cool down, or at least the hot stuff is supposed to be on its way out.  I have my roof completed, just in the nick of time for the next rainstorm.  I got some people in my village to help me out and I made them some coffee and rice pudding as thanks.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the job is good enough to keep the rain out for the whole winter.  Otherwise, it's not going to be a fun time.  It's interesting that all that is keeping my room from being a wet muddy mess is a thin layer of plastic and a layer of dirt on top of that to keep the whole thing from blowing away.  I've been told that people still build their houses in this manner instead of using cement or better building materials, because if they do it in a non-traditional manner they are obligated to also hire a contractor and they don't have the money to do that.  Hence mud buildings with satelite dishes on top.  Crazy stuff...

My favorite thing this week comes back from my college town, and is streamed to me via youtube.  It's a little thing called "Bellingham state of mind" and for anyone who has lived there for any length of time, it is a must see.  Must say it made me a bit homesick, and made me want to move back to that spectacular city once I'm all done my business here.  I'm so glad that I was able to spend my college years in such an beautiful and amazing place... thanks B-ham!

Hope that everyone is having a spectacular week, where ever you are viewing this from.  Take care and Lay 3awn!

  1. Hi Kiddo. Bellingham misses you too! We have two great new housemates that you'd love. Come back and live on the farm someday!
